History and Tradition
Located in the heart of the Nièvre, home to the largest resource of French oak, the Tixier family founded the sawmill-parquetry in 1875. Over the course of a century, three generations guided the company through industrialization and the challenges of two world wars.
In 1982, Maurice Petitrenaud, an experienced forester and sawyer, acquired the company when it was left without a successor. Together with his sons Didier and Rémi Petitrenaud, they focused on expanding the parquet business, renaming the company “Beau Soleil” in honour of its location.

The Life Cycle of the Oak:
- Felling and Regeneration: The felling of each oak tree is carried out in a careful and reasoned manner, ensuring that its offspring have germinated. Cutting down the old oak tree provides the light necessary for the young shoots to grow and develop.
- Natural Rhythm: Oak trees can only be felled when they are dormant, between late October and late February, to preserve both the quality of the wood and the surrounding flora and fauna.
- Ecological Approach: The felling and regeneration of the forest is carried out naturally, favouring the development of new shoots that will eventually become century-old oak trees, aided by the diligent work of the foresters.
- Production Process: The logs, sourced from forests located fifty kilometres away, are cut into "ridges" and then sawn into boards known as "friezes" and "edges". These boards are then carefully stacked on sticks to allow for optimal, uniform and warp-free drying.
